A hint of fall

Yesterday Caroline and I drove around scouting for a senior session. Sometimes it's nice just to drive... it's not often being a mom that I get out of the house and just be! I love feeling free even if it's just for a half hour. We found some pretty amazing places that were all rich in texture and color. The transition between summer and fall brings us very beautiful golds, browns, and green colors.

I was very fortunate to be able to shoot such a beautiful and willing to do anything senior, Janel Monks from Eastbook. We all jumped into the cube and ventured out to our session. At our first location I was pretty convinced we were going to be stuck in a field forever... which has happened before well not the forever part. First locations are always warm up's or a type of icebreaker. As sessions go on seniors loosen up and get more into posing and trying different facial expressions. Posing to me is more a relationship between the photographer and client. I don't tell my seniors what to do in every pose -- I tell them to start moving and trying things that feel natural and then start tweaking and perfecting. I scream "whoa! don't move" a lot! Anyways Janel was very natural in front of the camera-- she never over did anything which left us with beautiful and natural poses much like you would see in a magazine. Here are some of my favorites so far. I will post more soon.
